Using RDP for remote access over TOSIBOX® VPN

Modified on Tue, 22 Mar 2022 at 11:22 AM

The TOSIBOX® Key software has a shortcut under network device’s “…” button for opening a remote desktop connection using the RDP protocol to the computer in question (picture 1). The remote desktop connection must first be allowed from the computer that the remote desktop connection is opened to. In Windows 7 the option can be found at Control Panel > System > Remote settings > Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (picture 2).

  • All Windows versions (e.g. Home versions) are not capable of receiving remote desktop connections. In such case a separate remote desktop connection software must be used, e.g.TightVNC
  • Software firewalls must be configured so that they allow remote desktop connections.
  • In some Windows versions it is possible to choose which network adapter is used for the remote desktop connection. If the remote desktop connection is opened to a computer that uses a Key and has such option available, the network adapter used by TOSIBOX® Key (Tosibox TAP-Windows Adapter) must be selected.
